Santa Fe 4-6-4 Hudson class

Very good sleep for 12 hours & felt better in morning than for a long time.

Went over pass at Raton at 10:30, alt 6600 ft.

Spent pleasant day talking with woman who lives in Pasadena and reading Wallace’s Malay Archipelago. Also thinking about everything. Southwest country looked very familiar & brought me back to RBMV Expedition . Fairly warm in day but characteristically cold at night. Seems incredible that I will be in Honolulu on Wednesday morning.

Went to bed at 8 in preparation for early change of trains tomorrow.
