Honolulu

View from Moana Hotel, Waikiki. By Novembering
Called at 6 for the flight at 7, but learned on coming down that it was postponed a day on account of bad weather at Midway Island. I’m not sorry to stay over another day, although had good sleep and felt pretty well.

Weather cool & windy, rather stormy looking.

Had breakfast with Doria. Learned that the cost of the Martin clipper was about $600,000 and the larger Boeing, $1,100,000.

Pan American is planning a connection to New Zealand. Asked Doria if there was any theory about the disappearance of the clipper between Guam and Manila. He said there was absolutely none.

Today is Thanksgiving.

Had lunch alone as Doria lunched with the crew of whom there are eight. None of them have spoken to any of the the passengers. Doria says they usually follow the lead of the captain (Hamilton) in this regard.

Very few people at the hotel. This is the off season.

After lunch I looked over the Royal Palm Hotel next door. Very dark and handsome with a minimum rate of $14.

Stayed in my room and did not have dinner.
