Saw Mrs. Smith in the lobby and she told me that the George Fairchilds Lincoln car had been demolished returning from the Forestry College after taking the Fairchilds there on Sunday. Chauffeur ran into a ditch to avoid a truck.
Wrote Mr. Thomas as follows:
President Manila Polo Club
Manila, P.I.
Dear Mr. Thomas,
I have just written Mr. Forbes about your kindness to me at the anniversary polo game last Sunday. I greatly enjoyed the afternoon and evening and was glad that the delay in starting our cruise made it possible to attend this interesting and historical occasion. Please extend my appreciation also to Mrs. Thomas.
Very sincerely yours,
Edward P. Beckwith
Sent postals yesterday to Ladd and Gambee.
Mrs Archbold was not on the clipper list from Hong Kong. Marian came at noon with Mrs. Curran and Hugo. We had lunch at the hotel. Went shopping alone afterward and bought 8 kilos hypo, 12 film albums, and 12 Kodachrome rolls. We had dinner at the hotel. Saw Mr. Finley, who has a two masted 75 ft schooner on which he will cruise in the Dutch East Indies in January, also Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Fairchild.
Hugo drove us out to the “Kubo” arriving at 1 A.M.
