Spent the day developing, 4 rolls of mine and 2 of David’s. These were the first I had done of Davids and the improvement in results over commercial work was evident. This completed my negatives to date considerably over 100. Shipped 4 rolls Kodachrome by Pan Am.
Went to a Christmas Eve party with the Fairchilds at the George Fairchilds which was historic. 3 beautiful night blooming cereus bloomed while I was there. They were a beautiful sight and with a delicate odor. The party was decidedly a gay one, the like of which I have never before experienced. When the Fairchilds were ready to go at about 10, the family encouraged me to stay on and offered to send me home later. At first I regretted it. As the guests thinned out things got more lively with a great deal of solo dancing to the radio. Mrs. McKay was especially amusing. At 12 there was general kissing and wishes for a Merry Christmas. Lydia (”Baby”) became quite affectionate and continued so. I tried to go several times without success and finally found myself the only one of the guests left and finally only Mrs. McKay and Lydia who insisted on more drinks and music on the phonograph. Finally toward 3 I left in their car and Mrs. McKay and Lydia decided to drive to the hotel with me. They took a dog along and we had trouble with it in the car, accompanied with arguments between the two sisters about the dog. Altogether I had the most remarkable evening so far.
