Manila

Manila market

Manila market, photographed by David Fairchild
Had a fine sleep, which seems remarkable, and I am feeling better than I would have thought possible under the rather exhausting circumstances. Mrs. George Fairchild and Mrs. Smith were in the lobby when I came out from breakfast at 10 A.M. I had a few words with them and then went to my room.

Drove around in the afternoon with David and Marian, who bought a great many things. We went to the market and other places.

David did not come down to dinner and I had dinner with Marian. Afterwards we talked in the lobby until 9:30. I feel that I am getting to know them both better all the time.
