Sibuco Bay, Mindanao, Philippines

Written by Edward Beckwith on Wednesday, January 17, 1940

Considerable motion all last night but had good sleep and no engines running since last port. Wind subsided so we are now at 9 A.M. making only 2 knots.

Off the coast of Mindanao. Wind freshened. Engines started to charge batteries. Considerable sea all day. Have not felt sea sick yet.

Put into a small bay for the night, Sibuco Bay. Beautiful cocoanut grove fringing a gravel beach. Went ashore and took some views of the junk. Anne was towed to the junk by the dingy.

In evening played Chinese checkers with Anne and Marian and later two games with Marian. Very quiet in this small bay anchored very close to shore in 15 fathoms.
