David Fairchild on crutches after Cheng Ho accident
David Fairchild on crutches after falling through a hatch in the aftermath of the Cheng Ho fire.
Anne up every morning at the same time, 6:15.

Went to the town with Hugo and Daan. No one could be found who would confirm the report of a prau running from Marisa to Poso and we found later that Anne had got things wrong as has happened before. The native boat leaves on Saturday for Poso.

Ted told me that after the Python incident the crew went through a ceremony to dissipate the evil.

They killed a chicken, sprinkled the blood on the bow, placed three chop sticks, three oranges and three glasses of wine. The wine was also sprinkled around.

Cashed $200.00 in guilders. Exchange 1.86 (they told me it was 1.82 in Manila).

David tried out a crutch. His leg was painful to stand on. He was rather nervous and irritable. Said I had been disagreeable to him and that Anne had too. I could not think what it was about.

Packed up and considered the question of cameras, whether to take mine or Davids. David was not very pleasant about it.

Fant was especially helpful and gave me a good many things to take.
