Palu, Sulawesi, Indonesia

Written by Edward Beckwith on Saturday, March 23, 1940

I suggested changing our telegram to David. The final version was as follows:

All well. Palu rich collection field. Plan arrive Macassar April 9 KPM from Donggala. Could arrive April 2 if necessary. Please send instructions by telegraph immediately when & where to meet you. Can be reached up to sailing time care controlleur Palu. Beckwith Curran.

Shipped three Bantam Kodachrome rolls by air mail. Cost 9 guilders.

Photographed 4 of Hugo’s specimens in color and black and white and 3 in black and white only. They were all recorded as “unknown”.

In the afternoon Hugo went hunting for more specimens in a car, while I stayed at the inn to give myself a rest.

Hugo returned with three, one a very beautiful parasite, one a white flower, and one a yellow berry.
