Buru Island, Indonesia

Written by Edward Beckwith on Thursday, May 2, 1940

After some specimen photography, David, Marian, Anne and I went out collecting in the small launch with Ah Fook. We followed the shore in the opposite direction from yesterday but did not find anything of much importance. It was also less interesting than yesterday.

Hugo went off for the day with the natives.

Everyone went off in the launch to a reef while I stayed to number films.

Shell collecting has assumed considerable importance and Marian and Anne have found some beautiful specimens. Probably no one else has collected shells at the places they have.
