Zamboanga, Mindanao, Philippines

Written by Edward Beckwith on Monday, June 17, 1940

Countryside near Zamboanga
Countryside near Zamboanga. Photographed in 2007 by long_mnz.
Anne, Fenton, I and Mrs. Wilson drove out in her car to her country place for developing operations. Conditions there were ideal. The house was by the sea and a cool breeze was blowing. We had lunch which we had brought and Fenton and I developed nine rolls by evening. Anne decided that we three should spend the night which would make it possible for us to start developing early tomorrow.

I sat out on the upper porch and talked with Anne about world affairs. This is a beautiful place beside a coconut grove. No one was prepared to spend the night but it did not seem to make much difference.

The situation is rather strange with everyone about ready to terminate the trip here and Anne not yet aware of it.
