At about 4 I drove with Anne in the Nobles’ car to Tagaytay, a small hotel at 2000 ft. altitude on the rim of an old crater – about an hours drive there. We had tea and returned to our hotels. It was a very pleasant afternoon as Anne was in an excellent humor.
She brought up the subject of joining the junk in Tahiti in November and asked me if I would go with a party on a four months cruise in the South Sea. I was non committal but actually had no intention of going. She thought she would ask Gretchen Greene and about three others, Miss Greene to be the only other woman beside herself. She said she thought the last trip had done me good and that I was more cheerful than when I started. She showed quite plainly that she was very anxious for me to go. She asked me to keep her plans quite confidential. I told Anne that I had a big job ahead to print all the films I had taken, and I did not know whether business matters would make it possible for me to go anyway.
